STS-99 - Update #2 - Collecting notes
Right now I’m at the part of making an episode where I’m just going back through all my sources looking for highlights and writing notes directly into the script outline. So things are moving.
That radar paper I mentioned last time was well worth the time. I learned a lot about how this stuff works conceptually and it makes me want to learn more about interferometric synthetic aperture radar in general. Fascinating stuff.
I’m also sort of slow rolling this a bit because it suddenly occurred to me that this is the second to last non-HST and non-ISS mission in the entire program. And the only other one is STS-107, which is obviously a whole other thing. So in a weird way it almost feels like the end of something major that just completely snuck up on me. I’m going to miss digging deep into the unique stuff flying in the back of the payload bay. Of course, now we’ll just be doing that with ISS hardware but somehow I feel like it won’t quite be the same for me. As much as I’m looking forward to the ISS it was cool to be like “oh! well! I guess I have to learn synthetic aperture radar this week!”
Anyway, I better get back to work.
